SA FINAL 2024 FAQ’s
Event Format:
- The National Final is a 36-hole Better Ball Stableford Competition with an 85% handicap allowance from the low handicap index.(Rule 6.2a).
Handicap allowance:
Organizers will verify the “LOW HI” index (over the past 365 days) for all players. Players will play off their lowest handicap index achieved during this period, up to and including the morning of the 1st round. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure they play off the correct handicap. The organizers do not take responsibility for incorrect information in this regard.
In the event of a tie
f two or more teams finish with the same score, the following will occur:
- A hole-by-hole sudden-death playoff.
- A count out procedure as prescribed for the Regional Finals (8 l).
- If adverse weather conditions or other factors prevent the completion of the event or any playoff, the winners will be decided by:
- The leaders after 27 holes.
- If fewer than 27 holes are completed, the leaders after the completed round will be declared the winners.
- In the event of a tie not resolved by the above methods, the winners will be decided by the toss of a coin or by drawing lots if more than two teams are involved.
How many pairs will qualify for the World Finals?
4 Pairs (8-persons)
two pairs from the open qualifiers, one mixed pair, and one women’s pair will earn their place at the International Pairs World Final in Tenerife, taking place from 30 September to 4 October 2024.
When and where is registration?
Registration is open from 11:00 – 17:30 on Sunday, 25 August 2024, at Heron Banks Golf Club.
What time is hotel check-in?
Hotel check-in begins at 14:00 on Sunday, 25 August 2024.
Are meals included?
All meals, are included from Sunday evening 25 August – Wednesday morning 28 August, and will be served at Heron Banks Golf Club.
How do I book a practice round?
Practice rounds are available on Sunday, 25 August. Please book directly with Heron Banks Golf Club at +27 78 052 4083. Note that practice rounds are at your own expense.
Is there a dress code for the practice round?
- Yes, please wear the blue Standard Bank Private International Pairs golf shirt received at regionals during the practice round on Sunday.
What should I wear during the tournament rounds?
Wear the kit received at registration during both rounds for camera and TV purposes.
Do I need to open a round on HNA and submit score?
Yes, players will have to open a round o the HNA (Handicap Network Africa) app and enter their score after each round, and ensure it is done within 24 hours to avoid disqualification.
Do I need to score on the Live scoring app (GolfGenius)?
All players will be required to have the Golf Genius app on their mobile ready to use for scoring, 1 person per 4-ball, 2 scorecards are still required per 4-ball. (this is the same app used at regionals) download on google play store or Apple App Store.
How do I arrange my own transport other than the event shuttles?
An event shuttle schedule will be provided. Alternatively, you can use Uber or Taljaard Taxis: 016 933 0094 (at your own expense).
Are golf carts allowed?
Yes, golf carts are available at the Heron Banks Pro Shop at your own expense.
Please note: No carts are allowed within 10 meters of any green or tee-box. Additionally, no carts are allowed left of hole 17; please keep to the right of the 17th green.
What should I do upon airport arrival?
Look for the person holding the Standard Bank Private International Pairs sign at the arrival hall. You will be taken directly to the golf club for registration.
Where can I store my luggage if I play a practice round?
You can leave your luggage at the club if you wish to play a practice round. Ensure all belongings are clearly marked and identifiable.
What is the dress code for evening events?
- Night 1: Casual
- Night 2: Smart Casual
- Final Evening: Jacket and Tie/Evening Wear
Where can I access the event itinerary?
The event itinerary is available on the player portal: Player Portal.
Are caddies allowed on the course?
No caddies or outside caddies are allowed on the course.
What is the checkout time?
Checkout time is 10:00 AM on Wednesday, 28 August 2024.

Are the driving range balls included?
Each player will receive 30 balls for warmup on day 1 and 2 at the driving range. You are welcome to purchase more from the pro shop if needed.
Can I select my tee box color to play from?
Players will be allowed to select their tee box color should they wish and their playing handicap will adjust accordingly. The change of tee box must be communicated to tournament organisers before teeing off. You are allowed to change tee box for day 1 and day 2.
Where do I freshen up after golf?
After your round, you are welcome to shower and get ready for the evening function right at the club. Feel free to bring a fresh pair of clothes to change into so you can head straight to the function without the need to return to the hotel.
Players that wish to head back to freshen up please take note of the shuttle schedule on the day. (available on the event portal)
