Legend Sports Management (LSM) in Ghana led by Abdul-Aziz Amankwa and his team has become the latest organization to be appointed licensee for International Pairs.
Abdul comes with a wealth of experience from branding, marketing communications and consumer engagement.
LSM is a sports Management consultancy focusing on developing and leveraging sporting assets.
Abdul was introduced to golf in 2005 by a friend and has since become an avid Golf enthusiast. He is currently a member of Celebrity Golf Club and serves on the Competition Committee (he was previously Secretary of the club).
Golf is still a growing sport in Ghana, it was introduced into the country by the colonial administration with a 9-hole course, and it gradually spread into other parts of the country.
In 2021 the Royal Golf Course in Kumasi celebrated its centenary, though it is thought that the Royal Golf course isn’t the first to have been built.
Ghana has gone on to see the development of other courses around the country, the capital city Accra can boast of 5 courses; three 18-hole courses and two 9-holes courses. In addition to these, there are approximately 6 courses in the western part of the country predominantly built by the mines for the benefit of their staff.
At present Ghana golf can boast of a membership of a little over two thousand active and enthusiastic players spread around the twenty courses, whiles this number might be small in comparison to other countries, the good news is that it there has been a steady growth in numbers in the last few years, with the development programs run by the clubs, this number could easily be doubled in the next three years.
In response to this appointment, Abdul said “I am very excited to lead Ghana into the International Pairs family, having reviewed the International Pairs offering it was an easy decision to join, starting with a chance encounter with International Pairs.
“The whole onboarding process has been smooth and well managed, the tournaments on offer are great and I believe the Ghanaian Golfing community will be thrilled to have International Pairs tournaments on our calendar, starting in March with the festival of Golf in Abu Dhabi UAE, I look forward to welcoming some of my golf compatriots to this uniquely themed tournament.
I am also happy to announce that CAGL a shipping and Logistics Group led by Dr. Isaac Amoako Mensah, Chairman and President has joined as a sponsor and is partnering with LSM to deliver a unique golfing experience to the golfing community in Ghana”.
